It's Bleach, so I doubt the damage is permanent.
She's been impaled by a sword and survived before. Should be fine. _________________

I found that Shinigami is officially translated as Soul Reaper in Japan now. Which is better than how Kubo sometimes translated Shinigami as Death, even if that is a more direct English translation. _________________

Soul Reaper has been the English translation here for a while now. I suppose they're doing it to keep it uniform.
Death really doesn't work for the translation as it aplies to Bleach, so it really does make a lot more sense, even if some western fans refuse to acknowledge the term. _________________

I knew about the term "Soul Reaper" in the English dub (I don't know about the English manga though). Kubo used "Death" earlier since shinigami means "god of death" literally, but it was coined to translate "personification of death" (which is shortened to simply "death" at times) or "Grim Reaper" into Japanese. For a while I refered to the Bleach Shinigami as "Reapers", but decided to go with the majority when I started fan fiction and wait to see if a more official English translation came out. _________________

Yeah, the "Grim Reaper" (also called "Death") is the appropriate western equivalent of a shinigami from what I understand, but that wouldn't particularly work well for Bleach either. Simply calling them reapers would be adequate, but I find "Soul Reaper" does make it more precise. _________________

A word like shinigami is actually out of place for such a Japanese-inspired place like Soul Society because the word was made specifically to refer to Western mythological concepts of death. Then again, the name Soul Society is hardly Japanese. It is possible Kubo was unaware of shinigami being coined for solely Western concepts and the word was only retroactively applied to Oriental concepts.
I did hear somewhere that Kubo claimed to haved like the term "Soul Reaper", after the English dub but I never read this myself in an interview. _________________

I seem to recall hearing that myself. It is a good term for it, even if some fans over here refuse to admit it. _________________
