Watched the first episode!

I thought it was pretty darn good, to be honest.

Your opinions?

It was the first thing I watched today.

I seriously missed these girls. This was just super cute, even if it was a little too Yui-focused for me (at the expense of my beloved Mugi getting time to shine), but it didn't matter. it was awesome.

The new opening's a little weird for me, but I think it might grow on me. The ending is an immediate winner. Both make me eager to hear more songs from "the band" this season. I was kind of disappointed there wasn't an insert this episode.

Anyway, it was light moe fun as delightful as always.

Watched K-On! 2, 2 today.

Exceedinly cute episode. I felt like more than the first ep each girl had time to shine. Loved all the Mugi scenes and the Yui moments were refreshingly bizarre.

Heh. This looks like it's going to be a fun second season.

Episode 3 was cute.

Despite being the liveliest and most energetic Ritsu is also the most prone to jealous angsting over things. Much like it did in the first season when she got jealous of Azusa for being close with Mio, it just won her some moe points.

She also has good taste in idols. It's hard to name a drummer cooler than Keith Moon.

But yeah, did I hear that right? Is my Mugi going to be getting a vocal part in a coming song? If so, that is the most amazing thing ever. Must hear that now. Seriously.

Regardless of whether Mugi's singing or not, I want some insert songs. It's been cute so far, but not enough music.

Episode 4 had adorableness. Seriously... Mugi initiating that pillow fight was the cutest thing I've seen in a long time. Her feeding the monkey was just great too.

The episode was complete fluff with nothing substantial too it in the slightest but that didn't mean it was bad. I did kind of miss Azusa though. She wasn't there for two thirds of the first season and now the show seems incomplete without her....

I now like Azusa/Ui. Yep, the pairings for this show just get more complicated. That's a full triangle there, as I also like Yui/Ui and Yui/Azusa. Throw in Nodoka/Yui and it's just a confusing mess. It just can't be like Ritsu/Mio, I suppose, where two are so obviously perfect for each other (though I will admite that there's something cute about Mio/Azusa, on occasion). And it just looks more and more like my Mugi is meant for Sawako all the time, even if I'm not sure why. Maybe it's just convenient.

As for episode 5, I was worried going in. I didn't think Azusa and Ui could carry an episode unassisted. And, well, they didn't. Jun stepped up from incidental character to a fairly fleshed out supporting cast member. I like her (but I can't see her paired with either Azusa or Ui just yet), and her attitude, which is somewhat reminiscent of Ritsu, helped fill in the gaps. Given that Azusa's kind of like Mio and Ui is vaguely like Mugi, it was kind of like watching the other four but with no Yui; which is probably why they had her text the others so often. It worked. It was cute.

Still looking forward to having the full cast in one place again.

Was it just me or was there soem forwardness with the subtext this week, and from Yui no doubt? I may have just been readign the scene wrong, but it sounded like Yui interpretted Azusa's tsundere-ish remarks about her spending too much time with Gitah the same way I did, as a display of jealous affection. She even saw the need to say, something like "don't worry, I love Azu-nyan too." If this was any other character beside Yui, I'd count that as something incredibly serious. Being Yui, it was just a wonderfully cute bit.

But yeah, Mio's also a lesbian. Yui and Azausa's guitars are being treated as male, but her "Elizabeth" is definitle female. It's symbolic, or something. But damn, there need to be more stuff with her and Ritsu this season (though the one flash back scene there was was kind of cute).

Other than that, the best parts of the ep were Yui goign to class i nthe maid outfit, and the bit in the hallway where Sawako tries to take off Yui's pants and Yui responds perfectly.

And I think I might have solved my mystery as to why it seems like Kyo-Ani's skimping on the music. K-On season 2 is going to last two seasons, or 22-26 eps. So yeah, makes sense they'll be spread out more.

Knowing that it's cool. I'm more than willing to subside on moe overload and yuri subtext in the meantime.

K-On! 7 was the episode I was waiting for.

"Pure-Pure Heart" was an adorably fun insert song; it was good to see the girls perform as a band again.

Additionally, I loved the whole concept. Mio performing for her rabid, sparkly-eyed fangirls who no doubt fantasize about her in wonderful ways. THe lead fangirl is this hot former student council president girl, who now goes to college. It's a shame we probably have no excuse to see more of her and her blatant crushing on Mio (even if it's Ritsu who deserves to win Mio in the end).

But yeah, it was a wonderfully cute episode.

Episode 8 was unsurprisingly cute. focus was on Yui and Ritsu struggling to come up with with plans for their futures. Personally I don't think Yui would have many other options aside from being a musician, as playing guitar seems to be the only thing she's remotely good at...

The real focus for me was Nodoka and Ritsu reminiscing about their childhood friendships with Yui and Mio respetively, much to the excitement of Mugi, who as always is as eager to hear the yuri subtext stuff as I am.

Not a good episode for an Azusa fan. She seemed left out of almost everything.

I watched a full three episodes of this today.

Ep 9 - A nice, cute Yui/Azusa episode. Breezy and fun, but not much to say about it. Yui is adorable.

Ep 10 - I absolutely loved this episode. Sawako centirc. The girls tail a suspicious acting Sawako thinking she finally has found a lover. When it's revealed to be a girl she's meeting, Mugi still seems to think it's a possibility, which is great. But it's not, just former member of Sawako's band trying to get her to play again with them for a wedding performance of one of their friends, but Sawako doesn't want to don the heavy metal makeup again for fear that it will ruin her image as a teacher. So instead, the Yui decides to take her place in the band and gets a metal makeover and tries to learn the band's power riffs for the performance. The other four get the metal treatment too (Azusa looks adorable in hers), but are sidenlined pretty much, with maracas. All leads up to super badassness from Sawako.

Ep 11 wasn't quite as great as 10, but was still awesome. The girls are overcome by severe heat in the clubroom and go to lengths to solve it. Mugi has Sawako take her to to her house, and she is humorously impressed (I'm sure we'll never see it... it cannot live up to what the show has built it up to be). Mugi is just awesome. All in all though, it was another light, fluffy ep.

Yay!

Well... I'd have almost preferred a more adventurous licensor than Bandai, to capture the musical aspect better (when given other music themed anime, Funimation has fully translated songs into English and had the English actors sing that from what I understand; Bandai will surely just have the girls go from talking in English to singing in Japanese whenever a song comes up). But still, I'll be buying the K-On! for sure when they are released. Awesome.

I don't even know why I bother, considering every post in this topic is my own save the first, but I thought I'd post about the K-On!! episodes I just watched.

episode 12 was a very solid episode, featuring the girls attending a summer rock festival. It culminated in the girls reaffirming thier ultimate commitment to the band and pledging to return to said festival as performers some day. I like stuff like that. It gives them a good goal for now and I hope to see them perform somewhere like there by the end.

episode 13 was an Azusa episode. Cute, but fairly lightweight. The principal excitement of the episode came from how adorable Azusa looks with a deep tan. Still, it was breezy fun.

At the halfway point for K-On!! I have to say I'm pleased so far, but I'm anticipating an even greater second half

Well, that's good to know that you're enjoying it. Anything that stands out to you as interesting that's not in your little reviews (yuri subtext, WTF? things)?

Well. it's K-On!, so there's always yuri subtext.

No really WTF? moments in either of these episodes though. They were pretty straight forward.
