[The shrill sound of her alarm clock woke Akiyama Mio from her deep slumber. She sat up in bed, yawned, and decided to get up.

She had the house to herself for the week, so she decided she could forgo modesty for the time being. She walked over to her dresser, clad in only an oversized T-shirt and yellow panties with orange polka dots. Drawing fresh underwear, this time her favourite blue and white stripes, she grabbed the hanger on which her uniform resided and made her way to her shower.

After a ten minute scrubbing session, she towelled herself off and dressed. Looking at her clock, she saw she still had an hour and a half before she needed to get going. Smiling, she almost ran to her bass, and flipped the switch. The surge of energy she felt was monumental.

She played, for what felt like the longest time and no time at all. Periodically glancing at her clock told her she had an hour left, forty five minutes, half an hour, twenty minutes, ten.

Finally she conceded defeat, and packed her bass, picks, tabs and sheet music into her case, along with cables and a tuner.

Giving her hair a final brush, she walked out the door humming. Today, she would be brave and independent, like she wanted to be.]

[Tsumugi Kotobuki hummed lightly to herself as she dressed herself and prepared for the day ahead, early on morning. It was with a smile that finally proceeded down the stairs of the family mansion and greeted her parents. She ate the full breakfast that had been preapred for her deliberately, enjoying it all as she shared in conversation with her family.

After breakfast, she still had thrity minutes left before she had to depart. She moved to the piano room and took a seat bfore the expensive grand piano. This was a far cry from the keyboard she usually played, and playing out the keyboard part of "Fuwa Fuwa Time" on it obviously didn't cound quite the same, but it was always good to practise. Her talent was dependable, but she knew if sh didn't practice regularly it wouldn't stay sharp. Besides, playing music was fun.

Thirty minutes disappearing quickly behind the keys, Mugi. Stood and gave a nod. It was time to leave home. Saying goodbye to her parents on the way, she headed out the door.

She was sure today would be fun for her and her friends]

Mugi's so sweet. Gotta love her.

She's now one of my favourites.

[Traffic was almost non-existent, and the pavement was clear of people. Thus, Mio reached school twenty minutes before she anticipated. After changing her shoes and stowing her bass in the music room, she decided to spend her remaining time writing lyrics.

Sitting down at her desk, she drew a pad and some pencils and began to write.

Bathroom Door Valentine

Oh, my secret valentine, I watch you from afar
The pureness of your smile is so enthralling
I hide behind the door, as you walk along the hall
Oh, how I wish that you could be just mine

This wooden door, that seperates me and you
I wish it would just close and that you'll see me standing here
behind this wooden bathroom door...

Satisfied with her style, she set her pencil down and waited for Nodoka to join her as her class gradually flooded with activity.]

[Mugi was still smiling and feeling bright when she arrived at school that day.

She started the day by heading to the clubroom. She smiled as she placed the small box containing today's assortment of sweets and confectionaries in her usual storage spot, and the bag of tea she had selected for the day next to the tea set.

It was still pretty early, when she made it to her classroom. She liked to get an early start on things. The classroom was relatively empty still. Neither Yui or Ritsu was there yet.]

Ritsu and Yui better get there soon...

[Ritsu Tainaka woke up feeling good. She was excited about getting together with her friends at the Light Music Club. But then she noticed she had overslept.

No practice in the morning today, she lamented as she got her things together and dashed off to school. She would practice her drum-playing in the music room then. Still, she was excited about the performance a week away.

Wait, did I tell them about that perfomance? she wondered as Ritsu entered the classroom.]

Well, Toutaku says I should post, so I might as well.

[Mugi smiled brightly as she caught sight of her friend, Ritsu Tainaka entering the classroom. Rising to her feet with a pleasant expression Mugi appraoched the girl.

"Good morning, Ritsu," she said cheerfully. "How are you today?"]

She sat down beside her friend and smiled cheerfully. "Looks like Yui's late again. She'd better show up soon. There's something I need to tell you guys."]

[Mio walked in, just catching the end of the conversation.

"What is it you need to tell us?" She waved to them as greeting. "By the way, I wrote some more lyrics. Can you give me your opinion?"

She lay down the pad on the table, hoping she'd done something better than before.]

[Ritsu looked over the lyrics Mio had put down. "Bathroom Door Valentine", eh?

She nodded her head as she read it, imaging the words flowing from Yui. It sounded good to her. A grin broke out on her face. "Hey, this is great, Mio! With lyrics like these we're sure to win the competition!"]

[Mugi tilted her head at these words. Something in them was strange. She didn't remember hearing anything of a planned competition. But she wouldn't push it yet. She was more interested in reading the no doubt wonderful lyrics Mio had written.

"May I see those, Ritsu?" she asked, smiling as she did.]
