One of the original stories I plan to write is a tale of a brave group of rebels (mostly attractive lesbians) fighting against the overwhelming might of an evil empire (almost mostly attactive lesbians, but in Nazi-esque uniforms). For that story though I want to know more about how an organized resistance movement would work. How do you recruit for that sort of thing? Surely you don't just post an advert in the park or make a website for all to see. How do you get funding for a movement? It all seems really difficult. So, until I find a book with instructions for those exact questions I have been turning to fiction. Rewatching some early episodes of Code Geass have proved helpful, but that is about it.
Then I found The Moon Is Down, a novel by John Steinbeck. The novel concerns an unnamed village in an unnamed European nation invaded by another unnamed European nation. The villagers had no defense against the invaders and all they can do is resist in their own little way. I am really enjoying this book; there is an elegance to the simple writing, but the characters themselves are anything but simple. Everyone gets their feelings and motivations explored. The invaders are as fleshed-out as the villagers and it is clear they are regular people too who see the whole invasion as a job and would rather be home. The Moon Is Down is a different sort of war novel, and I recomend it highly. _________________

Hmm, sounds interesting. I'm really not much of a book person though.
And somehow I managed to go through school without ever reading any Steinbeck. _________________

As far as I know, you have to find a copy of the book to read it. The only immediate scources of information I could find were the Wikipedia page (spoilers of course) and an essay. This does not seem to be a popular Internet subject. _________________

Your welcome.
Any suggestions for good rebellion/resistance-based stories would be very appreciated. _________________

Oh...Well, I will settle for any medium, not just books.
And later, we should discus those horror books you have. _________________

Oh, all right. Thank you for that. I will likely start a different thread for horror, so we can talk more about it there. _________________
