Well, I skipped ahead and saw it. I thought it was pretty funny, but, yeah, he seriously needs open his mind up a bit.

I'm also starting to think he's not a very good gamer.

What do you expect, he's a game critic.

Didn't he say he used to work for a game developer company as well? (that or I'm getting mixed up again)

Yeah, he could stand to be more open-minded with that stuff.

And you might have something there. He's not some hardcore expert player at least. That's probably for the best though in my opinion. he's not inherently good t every game; allows him to provide a more even perspective on them.

I wouldn't skip too many though. he usually makes eve the ones about gams few people care about pretty amusing.

And he's an independent game developer. The games he makes are old school adventure games.

If he likes playing old school games, then its not likely he'll change (just like I won't give up my stance on the C&C franchise in which all C&C games after RA2 and its expansion pack Yuri's Revenge suck).

That also makes sense. He's playing it for the fun factor (although he also makes quips regarding the controls, story, and whatever he can find faults with).

Yeah, no skipping. You have to watch every single one.

EDIT: Yeah, I got pissed too when he did that; and I really wanted that game.

He makes fun of everything, even the games he likes.

I am deeply offended. You just don't make fun of Ninja Gaiden... Okay, maybe the story is complete shit and doesn't make any logical sense to anyone with an IQ over 70. The gameplay is awesome and incredibly challenging... and it has hot girls (and a hot lead guy, but that doesn't mean anything to you).

I just rewatched that particular review. I don't think he was very harsh with it really (the final line aside maybe). He definitely semed to stress more positives than usual.

Challenging gameplay doesn't impress him. He's more interested in it being fun than hard, and if it's hard to the point of frustration, that's a big negative (as he explains in his Demon's Souls review). And use of fanservice is always a target of jokes in his review. I don't think he particularly minds it, its just easy to make fun of. His job has him as much a comic as he is a crtitic.

He's also a game writer (for, as I said, text heavy adventure games), so an even somewhat weak story is something that becomes a target to mock.

Yeah, I know. He was being tame compared to a lot of his other reviews. I was honestly much more offended by his Valkyria Chronicles review than that one.

And, yes, I understand what he tries to do in his reviews. He's already said a couple of times that he can't praise a game as being perfect or to actually admit that he likes a game at all.

Yeah, I still don't think he gave Valkyria Chronicles enough of a chance.

He will say he likes games sometimes (and then he'll proceed to still mock small things that bothered him). He also did pretty much call Portal perfect in his Orange Box review if I recall.

I believe you, but that's how he thinks.

I think the Orange Box was the only review I remember in which he said was absolutely good.

I had the Orange Box for the Xbox 360, and I have to say it was about as perfect of a game as you can find. Portal was pretty awesome, although I didn't think it had a whole lot of replay value. It was mostly a one time through deal.

Damn, I starting to regret ever getting a Wii, all we do is play SSBB; when we're not doing that, my sister is playing god-awful games so bad you might as well tie me to a stake and burn me alive. When we're not playing games, the controllers are being used as practice darts for my brother's anger as he throws them across the room, hitting various objects.

Portal was the only part yahtzee called perfect. He mildly criticized the rest.

Wii isn't a bad system either.

I'm surprised that none of us have asked each other to play SSBB. We all have the game.
