Yeah, I can't get my friend to play Rock Band 2 online with me. He's too busy studying for a Japanese final or mid-term.

Never played Rock Band 2 online. I suck pretty bad at that game. Kinda afraid I wouldn't perform so well with the online people. My sister plays it online sometimes though.

Yeah, my friend and I both play on expert with everything, although neither of us play the game as much as we used to. Online's pretty fun. I was a bit nervous when I first started playing, but it didn't take long to get over.

You'd probably be more nervous if you sucked as much as me.

I seriously can't manage anything beyond normal difficulty really well.

It just takes practice, dude. I thought the same thing when I was at your level, but now I can beat all the hardest songs on expert regardless of instrument. You have to be persistent!!!

You're probably right. The game just never grabbed as something like that where I was compelled to just paly it non-stop until I've beaten it all. I more see it as just something amusing to play with on a very occasional basis.

I found it more addicting once I got to the harder difficulty levels. It became more of a hardcore gaming experience, and felt like I needed to conquer everything on every difficulty. Sure, none of it replaces real instruments, but it always was a gaming experience for me anyway rather than a rock simulator.

I never approach gaming like that; mastering difficulty settings is never something compelling for me. I suppose I'm just not the hardcore gaming type (though saying that after getting 40 hours out of a game in less than a week is a bit off, maybe).

Well, I guess I enjoy beating all my games on higher difficulties because it proves that I'm better than everyone or just really good. Same with multiplayer. I mean, it's not the only reason I do both. I always have appreciated a difficult gaming experience that requires amazing stamina and reaction speed.

Gaming just isn't about proving myself or anything like that for me.

It's definitely a lot more casual than that. More about the experience, taking in the world, characters and stories of the game. I also like overcoming challenges. Completing set tasks. Usually this takes the form of trophy collecting these days.

Eh, experiences are for hippies, stoners, and pussies. Just like everything else I'm into, it's about proving that you're better than everyone else first and foremost.

I approve of the overcoming challenges, though.

it doesn't seem worth it to me. I know as good as I get ther will always be someone better. It's something I'm resigned to. Trying to change it will just frustrate me. I'd rather play the games just for amusement.

yeah. But I really prefer thwn the challenge isn't just "do this on a harder difficuly setting". I mean I'll do it if it's required for a trophy or something. I deprived myself of sleep one night until I defeated BlazBlue's arcade on Hell difficulty. But some of the more creative challenges were more amusing for me, even if they weren't quite as challening for the most part.

Well, I completely disagree, but whatever.

Yeah, definitely seem we have drastically different approaches to gaming. Ah well, at least we still like some of the same games.

Speaking of which, I can't stave off tha addiction any longer... time for more FFXIII.
