Finally, something I find that's interesting in the field I was supposed to originally specialize in.

That's kind of crazy. It should not be that big...

there's a few size discrepancies because of photo doctoring, but for the most part, they get up to 2-3 ft.

Well, compared to the trilobites from 3-1 billion years ago, these things are pretty cute. Trilobites could grow from 5-20 ft.

And actually, those are isopods, related to crabs, lobsters, and shrimp since they belong in Subphylum Crustacea.

Call me whatever you want, but I have a somewhat irrational fear of gross-looking bugs, especially big ones like that.

It's cool. It would definitely scare an average person, but obviously, I'm not an average person.

It's funny because there isn't a whole lot that scares me, but bugs just get under my skin. There so nasty...

That's the general consensus of most Americans, except for the occasional ladybug.

Besides, you're talking to the guy who kept a praying mantis in his home, 40 grasshoppers in his garage, and a Green June Bug as a pet when it was found with both its hind (back) legs missing.

My fear can be a bit irrational though. I know that crickets and grasshoppers aren't dangerous or scary, but I really don't like being around them.

It's cool SGA. Grasshoppers can be kind of scary.

You're telling me you'd be afraid of a little ladybug, Phil?

Not really afraid exactly. I do bat bugs like that away if they get near me though.

Hence why I decided that I'm changing my major. I'm aptly allergic to bee and wasp stings, the last time I got stung by honeybee was when I was 4, I ended up in 10 days of intensified care.
