Actually Phil, there is one more thing I feel the need to complain about: Patricia's voice in the English voice; and please don't change my mind about how annoying it sounds, I already had to take aspirin for every time I heard her voice.

Patricia's English voice is rather annoying. Apparently, her voice was supposed to emulate that of Minnie Mouse in both versions. This leads me to believe her Japanese voice is equally annoying if you can understand Japanese. Also of note, she was supposedly partially inspired by American voice actor, Patricia Ja Lee. She of course was chosen to voice Patricia, despite likely not being the best fit for the voice.

Dubs just aren't for me. Been there, done that. Didn't like it.

Completely agree with you.

I like dubs. I respect what the dubbing companies are tryign to do and find that it si succeful more often than not these days.

Patricia's voice is the weak link, in Lucky Stars' dub, but it's the only weak link. I'd say the dub is on par with the original Japanese voices, with some performances actually outshining it.

I couldn't watch Lucky Star with the Dubs. I found it painful to sit through, but then again, I only watched the first episode with them.

Really? I think the four main VAs (all professionals with numerous voice credits) do a great job capturing their roles.

Again, maybe they get better at it after the first episode.

I just don't think they sounded right at all. I might give it another chance some time.

I still don't understand the anime purist mentality, and I don't think I ever will.

Wendee Lee doesn't try for the same exact tone as Aya Hirano, but I think she effectively finds the same feel for the character. it sounds different, but not in a bad way. I can truly say I enjoy both performances.

There's some dubs I've enjoyed, but it's just a personal preference. I'm not saying that they're in Japan so they must speak Japanese.

I saw the Lucky Star sub first, and I didn't like how they sounded in English. That's all.

You are perhaps more open minded than I. I just like originality. I don't like remakes, or covers of songs.

The original format of anything is usually superior. Books are better than films, the manga is usually better than the anime...

The only exception, in my opinion, is when the original team of creators remake it because they themselves were unsatisfied with the first version. This canbe due to lack of technology, or funding, Etcetera.

Also, this is a complete bias for me. I find the majority of American voices rather annoying when they're acted rather than natural. To me, it ALWAYS sounds wooden, like they're not trying hard enough. Also, the girls tend to sound incredibly thick, even if the character is meant to be intelligent.

This is usually my biggest issue with them. It sounds like they're not taking the source material seriously. They're just doing it for a paycheck.

Japanese girl voices sound hotter anyway. I wouldn't want to watch Lucky Star without them.

I agree entirely. Japanese girls are hot to me.
